    love these pads!

Our family of five does a lot of camping in the summer, and we have tried many different types of pads or air mattresses. These are perfect. Extremely light weight, small and portable and offer a good night sleep when we are in our tent or on the plywood "beds" that are in many of the cabins we stay in. They need a few extra blows at the end to fully inflate, but it only takes an extra min. I was very impressed with this product when I tested it out on a backpacking trip with my brother in law, so I got one for my husband and I. Took them on a trip that turned out to be very cold and snowy, so thank goodness we had these insulated pads under us! Now all five members of our family have them, as we just had to get them for the kids for Christmas! Can't wait for summer!

    Comfortable night's sleep!

I bought these for the whole family. My husband at 6' got the large and myself 5'5" and the kids did fine with the regulars. These are reasonably light and once inflated provide warmth and softness to the ground. I prefer this mat to my previous one. Self-inflating mechanism worked well. Everyone was warm and comfortable. I highly recommend the product.

"Lightweight" might be a misnomer, as compared to a Z-lite from Thermarest this thing is a bag of bricks. Still it is of good quality, and offers a luxurious padding that is appropriate for less weight sensitive overnights. Overall I'm happy with my purchase!

    Camping Mat

Posted by Joe Bradshaw on 30th Apr 2015

I like this mat just fine, though I wish I had the larger size. I am an average size guy and the mat was just barely big enough, though it was sufficient. It also came with a patch kit, which is a nice touch. Upon the initial unrolling, I waited for it to inflate, it did not do so in 15 minutes. So I blew into the stem as you would a beach ball or air mattress, and it inflated. Once inflated it was comfortable, and seems very durable. I opened the valve ( which is brass) and it easily rolled up, fitting easily into the supplied stuff sack. The second time I tried to inflate it, it inflated much better, though still not to the level it did when I inflated it by breath. I feel in will get better with time. If not, I will simply let it self inflate as much as it will, then " top it off" by blowing into the valve before closing it off.

The mat is comfortable, light and easily packable. It appears to be durable and should serve well. If you are above 175 pounds I would suggest the larger size.

I know it is not designed to be used in this capacity, but I can't help being exited about getting warmer weather and seeing how it performs as a beach mat and...

Good pad, with a little tweak would be great.

Posted by John Holz on 30th Apr 2015

I recently received my Fox Outfitters Lightweight mattress. I got the lo g while it does measure 77x25 it doesn't "seem" as big mainly because of the rounded ends. At 2 pounds 11.6 ounces according to my kitchen scale I don't consider it lightweight. One thing that would remedy this is the diamond cut outs in the foam at the feet of the pad, if they were throughout I believe the pad would be lightened significantly, however the R-value would probably suffer my opinion it would be worth it. The brass valve is a big plus compared to some of my other pads. The included straps are much better than the included straps from other manufacturers. The included storage bag is also another nice touch. For family camping trips this will certainly fit the bill and I will probably be getting a couple more to outfit my wife and kids.

Great pads and durable - only reason for 4 star was one of three pads had handle on storage sack sewn on inside instead of outside but fox is replacing ( handle is how pad is secured to backpack ). Utilized these pads (3) on 10 day backpacking trip in NM with my sons. They are lightweight, durable, self inflating and performed well in rugged environment. If they hold up for couple of years of backpacking camping will get 5 stars - Good Job Fox Outfitters.

Nice sleeping pad for the money

Posted by PrairyErth on 30th Apr 2015

I'm happy with this product. The sleeping pads - regular and large - were on sale so I picked two up. I also have an ALPS lightweight. Of the two models, I prefer the Fox Outfitters Lightweight. It appears to have a bit more height to the pad when it expands. The only disappointment that I have with the Fox Outfitters series is its lack of a storage bag and tie straps. The cheaper ALPS model has both items included as part of the purchase.
